Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Sqizzi mobile application and this website (together, "the Service"), provided by HUGO BOARD GAMES S.R.L. ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing or using Sqizzi, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What Sqizzi is
Sqizzi is a free, on-device tool that analyzes the photos and videos on your device and creates compressed copies of the media you select. It is a compression tool, not a storage or backup service. Estimated results shown before a run are approximations; the exact result is reported after compression completes.
2. Licence
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Sqizzi for your own lawful, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease or sublicense the app, except as expressly permitted by law.
- You may not reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it.
- If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement also applies to your use of the app. If you downloaded it from Google Play, Google Play's Terms of Service also apply. If these Terms conflict with the store's terms for store-distributed copies, the store's terms prevail to the extent of the conflict.
3. Free app; no account
Sqizzi is free to use and requires no account. We may add, change or remove features in future versions. Because there is no account, we cannot contact you about changes; the current version of these Terms is always published on this page.
4. Your media and backups — please read this
Compression in Sqizzi always creates a new copy; your originals are not modified. An original is deleted only when you explicitly choose the Replace action, only after the compressed copy has been saved, and only after the operating system asks you to confirm.
- Replacement is permanent. Once the operating system's confirmation is accepted and the original is deleted, it cannot be recovered by Sqizzi.
- You are responsible for your data. Keep backups (for example, in iCloud, Google Photos or elsewhere) of anything you cannot afford to lose.
- Review before you replace. Use the comparison screen and the reported size/quality figures to decide whether a compressed copy is good enough before deleting the original.
- Compression may not preserve every property of a file. When HDR, resolution, frame rate or metadata cannot be preserved, the app reports it; always check the warnings for the media you care about.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use Sqizzi only with media you have the right to use and modify, and in compliance with applicable law. You may not use the Service to infringe anyone's intellectual-property or privacy rights.
6. No warranty
Sqizzi is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that compression will produce any particular file size or quality, that every file format will be supported, or that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted. Unsupported media is reported rather than silently converted, but you remain responsible for checking results.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, media, profits, goodwill or device functionality, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Sqizzi — including any deletion of originals you confirmed through the Replace action.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability under these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) zero — because Sqizzi is free, in the ordinary case that amount is zero.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including statutory consumer rights in your country of residence.
8. Apple-specific notice
If you obtained Sqizzi from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are an agreement between you and HUGO BOARD GAMES S.R.L., not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for Sqizzi and is not responsible for the app or its content, except to the extent Apple's own standard EULA provides.
9. Intellectual property
The app, its design, its name and this website are owned by HUGO BOARD GAMES S.R.L. and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Your photos, videos and other media remain entirely yours. Using Sqizzi does not give us any rights to your content — and since your content never leaves your device, we never receive it in the first place.
10. Third-party services
Sqizzi contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services. The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, and your interaction with those stores is governed by their own terms and policies. This website loads no third-party resources, other than what your browser itself does to reach it.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time — for example, when a new version of the app adds features. The current version is always posted on this page with its effective date. Continuing to use the app after an update takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the courts of Romania, unless your local law requires otherwise.
