Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the Sqizzi mobile app ("Sqizzi", "the app") and this website do with your information. It is written to be read, not to hide anything. If a sentence here sounds unusually absolute — "no data", "no servers" — that is because it is simply how the app is built.
The short version
- Sqizzi collects no personal data. There is no account, no sign-up and no profile.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- Your photos, videos and their metadata stay on your device. Scanning, compression, comparison and saving all happen locally.
- Nothing is uploaded. The app has no server of ours to send anything to, and works fully offline.
- The only time we see anything from you is if you choose to email support — then we see your email address and whatever you write.
Data safety at a glance
These are the same answers declared in the Apple App Store privacy details and the Google Play Data safety form. They match how the app actually behaves.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What data does the app collect? | None. No personal data, no usage data, no diagnostics, no identifiers. |
| Is data shared with third parties? | No. No data is shared, because none is collected. |
| Is data sold? | No. |
| Does the app track you across apps or websites? | No. |
| Does the app show advertising? | No. |
| Is an account required? | No. |
| Does the app require an internet connection? | No. It works entirely offline. |
| Does the developer operate servers that receive your data? | No. The app has no backend. |
What happens on your device
When you use Sqizzi:
- Scanning. The app reads metadata from your media library — file size, resolution, duration, frame rate, codec and HDR information — so it can show what is taking up space. It reads metadata only; your originals are never copied or downloaded just to be measured.
- Compression. The media you select is decoded, re-encoded and saved as a new copy with the original capture date and metadata, so the copy appears next to the original in your gallery.
- Replacement. An original file is deleted only when you explicitly choose Replace, only after the compressed copy has been saved, and only after the operating system asks you to confirm. Deletion is permanent once confirmed.
- Comparison. Original and compressed media are shown side by side inside the app, again entirely on your device.
None of this ever leaves your phone. There is no upload step because there is no upload.
Permissions Sqizzi may ask for, and why
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Photos / media library (read) | To index what is on your device (size, resolution, duration, HDR) and to show thumbnails. Android supports partial access, where you choose which items Sqizzi can see. |
| Add to photo library (write) | To save compressed copies next to your originals with the original capture date. |
| Location metadata (Android: ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION; iOS: location attached to a photo in your library) |
Only to copy the GPS tags already embedded in an original onto its compressed copy, so metadata is preserved. Sqizzi does not use GPS, does not determine your current location and never transmits location data anywhere. |
Permissions are managed by you in your device settings at any time. If you deny them, the related feature simply does not run.
What Sqizzi does not do
- It does not request or use network access. The Android release build does not even declare the internet permission. The released app contains no code that sends your files or usage data anywhere.
- It does not create an account or ask for your name, email or phone number.
- It does not upload, post or share your media anywhere.
- It does not include advertising, analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs.
- It does not read your contacts, messages, calendar or files unrelated to the photos and videos you use it on.
- It does not use cookies, device identifiers or fingerprinting to recognise you.
- It does not send telemetry "to improve the product". There is no such channel.
Photos stored only in iCloud (iOS)
If you have iCloud Photos and a photo or video is stored only in the cloud, iOS may need to download the original before it can be compressed on your device. That download is performed by Apple's Photos/iCloud system under your iCloud settings and Apple's terms and privacy policy. Sqizzi does not receive your Apple Account credentials, does not control that transfer, and does not upload the downloaded file anywhere — the compression still happens entirely on your device.
Crash reports and diagnostics
Sqizzi does not include any crash-reporting or diagnostics SDK. Apple and Google may collect diagnostic and usage information at the operating-system level, depending on the settings you choose on your device (for example, "Share iPhone Analytics" or "Usage & diagnostics"). That collection is controlled by your OS settings and governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies. We do not receive any data from the app ourselves; if you have opted in to share diagnostics with developers through the App Store or Google Play, those platforms may share aggregate reports with us under their terms.
Purchases
Sqizzi is free and contains no in-app purchases. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before any payment-related data is processed — and payments would be handled by the App Store or Google Play, never by us directly.
Children's privacy
Sqizzi does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. There is no account, no communication feature and no data collection to restrict. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, contact us using the details below.
Your privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws)
Laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of your personal data, and to know whether it is sold or shared.
We do not collect, process, sell or share personal data through the app, so there is nothing on our side to access, correct, delete or port. Your photos, videos and metadata remain on your device and under your control — deleting the app and the files you created removes them. If you email support, we process your email only to answer you, on the legal basis of legitimate interest or your request, and delete it when it is no longer needed.
If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may contact us at support@sqizzi.com, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
International users
The app does not transfer your data across borders, because it does not transmit your data at all. If you contact support by email, your message is processed by us at HUGO BOARD GAMES S.R.L. in Romania (or by our email provider) solely to reply to you.
This website
This website is static. It sets no cookies, includes no analytics, loads no fonts or scripts from third parties, and does not track you in any way. If you use the light/dark theme toggle, your choice is stored in your browser's local storage (a key named sqizzi-theme) so it is remembered on your next visit; that value never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time from your browser settings.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects privacy — for example if a future version adds a cloud feature — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change. Because the current app has no way to contact you, we encourage you to check this page when you update the app.
